PEK\u00cdN.-<\/strong> Un equipo de cient\u00edficos chinos ha creado un micro robot que podr\u00eda reducir los riesgos en los casos de sangrado en aneurismas cerebrales y mejorar tambi\u00e9n el pron\u00f3stico de los tumores de ese tipo al cortar el flujo sangu\u00edneo en las zonas afectadas.<\/p>\n

Se trata de un aparato magn\u00e9tico de microfibra que, seg\u00fan sus responsables, permite m\u00e1s precisi\u00f3n que otras t\u00e9cnicas m\u00ednimamente invasivas empleadas en la actualidad para tratar estas patolog\u00edas como la embolizaci\u00f3n por cateterismo, recoge este s\u00e1bado el diario South China Morning Post.<\/p>\n

En un art\u00edculo publicado esta semana en la revista especializada Science Robotics, los cient\u00edficos explican que han realizado pruebas tanto en modelos de vasos sangu\u00edneos como en conejos, con resultados \u201cprometedores\u201d para el uso cl\u00ednico de este m\u00e9todo.<\/p>\n

Los autores, pertenecientes a las universidades de Ciencia y Tecnolog\u00eda de Huazhong (Wuhan), Hefei y a la Jiao Tong de Shangh\u00e1i, consideran que la eficacia de los cateterismos \u201cest\u00e1 a menudo limitada por la falta de flexibilidad del cat\u00e9ter en entornos neurovasculares complejos\u201d, adem\u00e1s de exponer a los cirujanos a cantidades importantes de radiaci\u00f3n por la forma en que se realiza el procedimiento.<\/p>\n

Frente a estos problemas, los investigadores chinos aseguran que el micro robot, de alrededor de medio mil\u00edmetro, puede realizar embolizaciones en vasos sangu\u00edneos a los que no llegan los cat\u00e9teres convencionales.<\/p>\n

El aparato puede cambiar de forma, su movimiento se lleva a cabo mediante campos magn\u00e9ticos y sus creadores creen que puede usarse de forma simult\u00e1nea con el cateterismo para aumentar la efectividad cl\u00ednica del procedimiento, utilizando el cat\u00e9ter para llegar cerca del objetivo e inyectando despu\u00e9s el robot a trav\u00e9s del cat\u00e9ter para alcanzar la zona a tratar.<\/p>\n

Una vez alcanzado el objetivo, de acuerdo al estudio, el micro robot puede realizar la embolizaci\u00f3n de dos maneras diferentes, siempre con el objetivo de reducir el sangrado en el caso de los aneurismas y de bloquear el flujo sangu\u00edneo en el caso de los tumores cerebrales, una t\u00e9cnica con la que se frena su crecimiento.<\/p>\n

Los autores de la investigaci\u00f3n precisaron, no obstante, que el aparato est\u00e1 \u201ca\u00fan en su infancia\u201d, por lo que ser\u00e1n necesarios m\u00e1s estudios con robots de diferentes tama\u00f1os, materiales y sistemas de movimiento con el fin de enfrentar unas patolog\u00edas que provocan unos 750.000 fallecimientos cada a\u00f1o.<\/p>\n
